Welcome to our Latest News

MAY 2010 - The Corton Juniors have been busy out collecting rosettes, since our last post, Rosie Sawyer ran two dogs at the WBSD at the end of April, she gained a clear round with Honey in 1-2 small jumping and a clear in 3-5 small jumping with Kes, well done Rosie, Honey and Kes.

We also saw Rosie Sawyer gain a two 4th place's at the HJ UKA Agility dog show on the 8th and 9th of May.

At the same show we also saw Josh Belcher run Kes in the Novice Steeplechase gaining a 4th place, this wasy Josh's first ever placing and was only his second ever show, so well done Josh and Kes.

Also at the same show Becki ran her son's dog Rudi gaining a 1st place in beginners Snooker and a 2nd place in beginners steeplechase. Not bad for their first ever competition running individually.

Again at the HJ show we saw our very own Jillian Sawyer and her dog Dottie win 1st place in the CSJ Senior Agility, also gaining overall 1st place and goes through to the finals later this year. Well done everyone for a very successful weekend of agility.

In other news, we have now filled all 8 places for our Juniors group on Tuesday nights, for more informaiton on our Juniors group please contact Becki .

Until next month keep your results coming in so we can celebrate your success.

April 2010 - We have some updates for you, Corton held its AGM recently and welcomes three new members to the Committee, Jill Holness, Laura Chudleigh and Sammy Stevens. Becki has chosen to stand down from the committee due to family commitments but will remain as website liaison and Junior Corton Administrator along with Jillian Sawyer who remains as Junior Trainer.

On show news, we must say a big well done to our juniors who competed in their first competition at Wye Valley Show in the small/medium teams on the 10th April. Although it did not all go quite according to plan, they put on a brave show which earned them judges specials from Barrie James.  Well done to Rosie and Honey, Josh and Kes, Millie and Dinkie, and stand in ‘junior' handler Becki and Rudi who managed a clear round.  Our ‘older' handler team managed 6th place with their dogs out of 47 teams so well done, Alan and Tickle (reserve dog and handler, get well soon Joyce and Star) Jillian and Dottie, Pat and Taff, Evelyne and Kaastar. Also a special well done to Rosie with Honey who managed their first clear round in a KC show in Circular jumping.

We have some photos from the day so please feel free to take a peek at the guys in action.

That is all our news for now. If you have a result or news to share with us please send in your corton news to Becki.

Until next time, bye for now...CATS

Feruary/March 2009 - Corton held its first show of the year on the 14th February and it saw many clear rounds and good placing's. Due to the heavy snow in our area at the time and all around the country many people found it difficult to attend, but those who braved the weather were very much welcome and we thank you for coming in such conditions and supporting our event. For results and placing please see the show results page. I was not able to attend the show this time so sadly we have no pictures to share, but if anyone took some and would like to contribute them to this site you are welcome to send them to me and I shall put them up with full acknowledgements to the photographer.

At the show we saw our own Pauline Caddick and Vicki being placed in the small classes, 3rd in Agility 4-7 and 2nd in Steeplechase 4-7 and with Kelli in the medium classes of agility 4-7 with a 1st, steeplechase 4-7 with a 2nd CR and jumping 4-7 with another 2nd, well done Pauline, Vicki and Kelli. We also saw Jillian Sawyer and Dottie take a 2nd in 4-7 medium agility and a 1st in medium 4-7 steeplechase, well done guys. Corton Clubs founder Elaine Thompson also did very well and took a 1st CR in small 4-7 agility and in small jumping 4-7 with a 2nd CR with her dog Shimo, well done to you too. Last buy by no means least our own Sammie Stevens and Dylon were placed 2nd in the Large 4-7 steeplechase class, they then went on to compete at Crufts in the Champions Class of Agility this March. We are all extremely proud to have had a representative of Corton Club compete at such an event, well done to Sammie and Dylon.

Our next club show will be November 2009. Further information will follow later in the year with entry forms available for download from this site only or from the clubs show secretary.

We have updated the Forms & Rules for download page. This now includes the DOY new rules and also the score sheet for you to submit your points on. Make sure you check out the new rules as they have changed.

Training classes still continue with a good regular attendance, and excellent results, our young dogs are progressing very well and we expect great things from some of them this year. We have a regular dedicated group of people who attend and support the club and despite our small number we are as strong as ever with our commitment to the club we love so much. New members are always welcome and if you are already trained to a particular level and wish to join you will always be welcome to come for an assessment. Contact the club for more details.

Corton also held its AGM this month and many new ideas have been taken on board by the committee to help progress the club and make it stronger.

The Club have bought two items for members to make use of, a very good book - Unleash The Velcro Dog and a DVD by Greg Derretts - Great Dog Shame About The Handler. Anyone wishing to borrow these can obtain them from Joy Stanbrook who is the caretaker for these two items.

Well as always if you are a member and you have news you would like to share please forward this to the site administrator for inclusion.
