In our other news:

We have had updates from our members on their successes this year check out what eveyone has been up to. Well done to everyone.

Sammie Stevens' Mika won out of grade 3 and grade 4 making him grade 5, Jon & lenny both won out of grade 2 and grade 3 making him grade 4, Woody won out of grade 4 and grade 5 making him grade 6. We must also say well done to Sammie and Woody who were part of the local flyball team (Bassett Hotdogs) who won the flyball british championships and also broke the flyball british record for the fastest time ever. Well done Sammie and all your boys for such a successful summer.

Anne Boyles and Meg have enjoyed travelling to some familiar venues but also investigated new shows. Anne says, "I enjoy the outings – meeting new people and chatting with old friends. Shows are a good way to take time out from a busy week and relax. We have 14 steeplechase points towards the next grade at UKA shows – only 10 more needed!! Meg still has a problem with contacts – why go all the way down to the bottom of the A frame when you can leap off as you come over the top!! We are re-training contacts from the beginning and it's slow work but I'm dreaming of a clear agility round next year. That's my goal". We all wish Anne good luck for achieving her goal.

Our latest news this month is that we now have a training plan for those members wishing to attend club, we will now be running Corton Club on a termly basis fitting in with the school holidays to make things easier for all members of the club who have commitments at this time. This training plan is available on the training times page.

Our November Show news: - don't forget to download and enter our clubs show which is over two days and has two separate schedules. You can download them here.

Our very own Jillian Sawyer had a very successful time recently with Dottie getting 3rd on the podium at the UKA national finals. The UK Agility National Finals are held throughout the UKA Week show with Round 1 on Tuesday, Round 2 on Thursday and the Final on the Saturday night.  To qualify for Round 1 a clear round is required in any agility class between September 1st and the day of Round 1.  Also Jillian and Dottie gained a 2nd in the UKA CSJ Grand Prix final at the TJ charity show in August.  The 2010 CSJ UK Agility Grand Prix Final took place on 21st August at the Teejay Charity show in Cheltenham.  To qualify for the final competitors had to finish in the top 3 of one of the 7 heats held throughout the country Dottie qualified in May at the Witney show in first place.  Jillian had this to say about Dottie "I'm really proud of her". Well done to Jillian and Dottie for this wonderful achievement.

Our Juniors have been out in force running their legs off, Matthew Belcher ran his dog Rudi at Staverton UKA show and over 4 days gained, a 1st place in Jumping (27th Aug) + Clear Round, a 1st place in steeplechase (27th Aug) + Clear Round and a 1st place in steeplechase (30th Aug) + Clear Round. Joshua also ran Rudi gaining a 3rd place in steeplechase (27th Aug). So well done to our juniors.

Becki also took the chance to run Rudi at Staverton show and gained a 1st place in Steeplechase (27th aug) + clear round, 1st place in agility (27th aug), 1st place in agility (28th aug), 1st place in agility (29th aug) + clear round, 1st place in Jumping (30th aug) + clear round, 1st place in steeplechase (30th aug) + clear round and a
2nd place in Agility (30th Aug). All these wins qualified Rudi up to Novice level so well done to Matthew, Josh, Becki and Rudi for this combined effort and hard work.

The Juniors will begin training again at club now that the school summer break is finished, the first session is on Tuesday 7th September at 6pm start. We look forward to seeing all the Juniors back at club as well as some new members due to start very soon.

Don't forget if you have news or wins to share please let us know so we can celebrate your successes. Send your news to the website coordinator.

August 2010 - Chippenham Show - update.

I would like to congratulate all the junior handlers from Corton and who represented Corton in todays YKC Teams, everyone did their best and I hope enjoyed it, which was the most important thing, they got placed 8th, 10th and 13th well done and thank you.

I would also like to congratulate Matty on 2 wonderful clear rounds with his dog Rudi, 1 in the Team event and 1 in the YKC 12-17 Agility class the latter gaining him a 5th place.  Also well done for his mum Becki running Rudi in the 1-3 Agility and gaining 3rd place with a clear round.  He was definitely on form today.

Also well done to Holly who ran in our team today and also gained 1st in the small YKC 6-11 Agility qualifiying her for Crufts 2011.  Rosie also gained a 2nd in the same class with Kes also qualifying for Crufts.

I am very proud of all the juniors today. Jillian

Next update at the end of August. CATS.

July 2010 - Its been a while since our last update but we have some news to report. Cortons' November Unaffiliated Show Schedule is now ready for downloading and can be found here.

The Juniors have been very busy collecting rosettes again this time at Tewkesbury. We watched Rosie and Millie Sawyer do very well with Honey, Dinkie, Kes and Dottie and also Joshua and Matthew Belcher with Rudi. They all took part in the full range of classes on offer with Jumping, Steeplechase, Agility and the Junior classes that were available.

Millie and Dinkie had their first ever clear round in competition in beginners Steeplechase and gained a 3rd in junior jumping. Kes ran her first junior agility run class with Millie, and later gained a 3rd with Rosie in junior jumping, a 2nd in junior jumping with both girls on different days and a total of 5 clear rounds in steeplechase. Dottie gained a 1st in junior agility and a 4th with Millie, Honey gained 4th in junior jumping with Rosie and jumped clear round beginners steeplechase but was sadly just out of time.

Dottie and Jillian won a champ jumping and senior Steeplechase classes putting her up to Champ level steeplechase. Her win in champ jumping also gave her enough points for her CAP1 (Champion of Agility Performance). Dottie and Jillian also competed in the Masters class which is a combination of 2 classes open to all champ dogs she came 2nd in the jumping and 3rd in the agility making her 2nd overall and qualifying her for the Masters final. She also went through 2 rounds of the Nationals qualifiers and qualified in the top 15 for the final finishing 3rd overall in her height. So a huge well done to you all for your successes.

Matthew and Joshua Belcher, competing at their first week long competition, shared Mattys' dog Rudi competing in all the Beginners Midi classes each day. Matthew won a 1st place in Junior Agility on the very first day of the competition, Josh soon followed suit running a good 2nd place in the Beginners Steeplechase at Midi height. Josh followed this with another 2nd place the next day in the Beginners Steeplechase Midi and then gained a clear round on the last day, just missing out on a place.

Matthew also took part in a grade 1-3 Jumping class at Lansdown KC Show earlier in July where he gained his first judges special, this was Matthews first ever show so he was really pleased and we thank the Judge on the day for his kind support to Matthew.

We have added some new images to the gallery of our dogs doing their stuff at Tewkesbury to go and take a look.

The Juniors have a packed month ahead with them taking part in some Team events so we hope to have some news to report shortly on how they get on.

In other news the Juniors training classes have finished for the summer and will restart in September with two new members due to join the Juniors training group taking our numbers to 10. Also our new show schedule is available for downloading, show to take place on 21st November 2010.

If you as a member of Corton have any news you would like to share please pass this to me for inclusion onto the site.

Until next month. CATS.

MAY 2010 - The Corton Juniors have been busy out collecting rosettes, since our last post, Rosie Sawyer ran two dogs at the WBSD at the end of April, she gained a clear round with Honey in 1-2 small jumping and a clear in 3-5 small jumping with Kes, well done Rosie, Honey and Kes.

We also saw Rosie Sawyer gain a two 4th place's at the HJ UKA Agility dog show on the 8th and 9th of May.

At the same show we also saw Josh Belcher run Kes in the Novice Steeplechase gaining a 4th place, this wasy Josh's first ever placing and was only his second ever show, so well done Josh and Kes.

Also at the same show Becki ran her son's dog Rudi gaining a 1st place in beginners Snooker and a 2nd place in beginners steeplechase. Not bad for their first ever competition running individually.

Again at the HJ show we saw our very own Jillian Sawyer and her dog Dottie win 1st place in the CSJ Senior Agility, also gaining overall 1st place and goes through to the finals later this year. Well done everyone for a very successful weekend of agility.

In other news, we have now filled all 8 places for our Juniors group on Tuesday nights, for more informaiton on our Juniors group please contact Becki .

Until next month keep your results coming in so we can celebrate your success.

April 2010 - We have some updates for you, Corton held its AGM recently and welcomes three new members to the Committee, Jill Holness, Laura Chudleigh and Sammy Stevens. Becki has chosen to stand down from the committee due to family commitments but will remain as website liaison and Junior Corton Administrator along with Jillian Sawyer who remains as Junior Trainer.

On show news, we must say a big well done to our juniors who competed in their first competition at Wye Valley Show in the small/medium teams on the 10th April. Although it did not all go quite according to plan, they put on a brave show which earned them judges specials from Barrie James.  Well done to Rosie and Honey, Josh and Kes, Millie and Dinkie, and stand in ‘junior' handler Becki and Rudi who managed a clear round.  Our ‘older' handler team managed 6th place with their dogs out of 47 teams so well done, Alan and Tickle (reserve dog and handler, get well soon Joyce and Star) Jillian and Dottie, Pat and Taff, Evelyne and Kaastar. Also a special well done to Rosie with Honey who managed their first clear round in a KC show in Circular jumping.

We have some photos from the day so please feel free to take a peek at the guys in action.

That is all our news for now. If you have a result or news to share with us please send in your corton news to Becki.

Until next time, bye for now...CATS

31st January 2010 - Firstly we would like to say a belated Happy New Year on behalf of everyone at the Corton Club.

We have had a very productive 2009 with two KC Shows and the creation of our new and very successful Juniors group. We have lots planned for 2010 so keep an eye on the website for our news to come.

We have our next clubs 'unaffiliated' show on the 20th February, this is full now so no more entries will be taken and planning is well underway for the day with everyone being allocated jobs well in advance. Hopefully there will be no more snow by the time the show comes round.

The Junior's group is continuing to do really well going from strength to strength with an excellent group of youngsters showing real talent and skills with dogs that are responding well to their handlers. We still have one space remaining in our Junior's group so if you are interested please see our Junior's page for details on how to join up.

One of our Juniors, Jake Wilkins, who is just 11 yrs old is competing at Crufts this year and we wish him the very best of luck for this event and will let you know how he gets along.

This years winner of the Corton Dog of the Year competition is Pauline Caddick with Kelli, well done Pauline and Kelli for totaling up such a great score. For full results check out the DOY page.

Well that's all our news for now. Until next time. CATS
