November

A quiet month for most people show wise so not much to report at the moment.

Our Beginners Course has been up and running for 2 weeks now and they are all doing very well with some lovely dogs joining the group for training and very enthusiastic handlers.

Our club show is just 1 week away and everything seems to be in order for it, we are looking forward to getting the in to the ring and competing again and so are the children in the Juniors classes, this will be the first corton show to have included junior specific classes so a new step for us as a club. The Running Order for the show can be found here.

We have our new membership form for 2012. All members are required to completed a new form and submit this asap for membership payments. Click the link to download a copy and send them in asap.

Kes is a poster girl for this months front page image, she is a superstar as far as dogs go, she has now entered retirement and is no longer competing in the ring but we could not let her go without saying a few words about her, she has helped so many of the juniors at our group to find their feet and their agility skills with her devoted owner Jillian lending her to some of our Juniors for training and for competition. Josh who trained with Kes and ran his first ever compeitions with her says of Kes, 'I thinks she's brilliant, I wish she was mine', Emily a very shy little girl who trained with Kes and also did her first competitions with her says 'I love her she is so gentle and fluffy'.

Don't forget to send in your news to the website administrator so that we can share your successes and news with everyone.

The Corton Junior Teams have been out in force this month we had 3 teams taking part in YKC Junior Teams at Chippenham KC show. We saw one of our teams qualify for Crufts coming 2nd out of 11 teams, so huge contratulations to Corton Team Three for coming 2nd, Corton Team Two came 3rd and Corton Team One who came 7th. Junior Trainer Jillian Sawyer says of all her teams, "I'm very proud of all the juniors, and would like to say a huge thank you to guest juniors and owners of borrowed dogs".

During her turn in the YKC team event Rosie Sawyer had a big personal breakthrough with her dog Honey, for the first time in 18 months she did the Dog walk in ring after taking a dislike to it, this was also her first clear in Agility.

Well done as well to Ruth and Codie for also qualifiying on same day for YKC agility individual semi at crufts, and Holly and Tink for qualifying for the same event earlier in the season.

We shall all be there to support our qualifiying team at Crufts in March next year.

We have also had to close entries to our club show in November as we are now fully subscribed. Sorry if you have missed out this time and we look forward to seeing all those who are planning to attend in November.

Don't forget if you are a club member and you have news to share don't be shy send it in so we can celebrate your news too.

Thats all for now, until next month.

April / May

April has been a busy and exciting few months for Corton and we have lots of news to share.

As a club we held our AGM and now have new members on the committee.

We also have an opportunity for anyone new to agility to join our taster course that will be running from August 30th for 8 weeks. If you are a complete beginner with a complete beginner dog and would like to learn how to do the basics of agility please contact Jill Holness for more information and get your name down ready for September.

The Corton Junior Team has been sponsored with some lovely Club T-Shirts, many thanks to Joy Stanbrook of Flickcee Border Collies for supporting the Juniors in such a way.

The Juniors tried out their new club shirts for the first time at Wye Valley KC show on the 2nd April, Millie Sawyer and her dog Dinkie gained a 4th place in grade 1 - 3 Small Jumping. Josh Belcher gained a clear round in Medium Circular Jumping with Rudi. Matthew, Josh, Millie and Rosie all ran in the team event against 39 other adult teams and did really well gaining a judges special for their runs, they looked great and we have photo's in the gallery of them sporting their new T-Shirts. Rosie Sawyer and her dog Honey gained a clear round in a circular Jumping class.

At the same show Becki Belcher gained two 3rd places in both grade 1-3 Medium Jumping and 1-3 Medium Agility with Rudi.

At Country Paws show in Cirencester we saw Matthew and Josh Belcher gain qualifying 3rd places in novice Jumping and Novice Steeplechase respectively.

Also at the Country Paws show we saw two of our newest junior members Asha Instone and Emily Belcher, run with their dogs Ollie and Kes respectively (Kes who Emily kindly borrows from Jillian), they did very well considering it was their first ever show and we are very proud of how well they did. Emily went on to run at Newbury with Rudi and gained a judges special for her efforts, this was her first ever rosette and she was very proud of herself. Asha and Ollie also ran at Newbury and this helped them gain experience in the ring with a big improvement being seen from their first time out, it won't be long before we see them taking home some rosettes.

Jill Holness gained two 1st places at UKA shows this month. Crack Won Jumping and Whoosh won Jumping and  Steeplechase at the same show, well done guys. Jill later went on to qualify Whoosh for Olympia by winning an agility class. Later in the month Whoosh went on to win another Grade 5 Agility at Tunbridge Wells show on 8th May, and not to be outdone, Crack then got a 5th in the Olympia Qualifier Grade 3 to 5 Agility on the 7th May. Big well done to Jill. We have some lovely pictures from Jill of her boys and girls in the gallery with their trophies and rosettes so go and take a peek.

Pauline Caddick has been out and about too and writes that Kelli gained a 1st med 6-7 I.O.M. Jumping and a 2nd med 6-7  I.O.M. agility with clear rounds. Also a 1st in med grade 7 agility at Blackdown plus clear rounds. She also had success with her flyball group with the Cotswold Cyclones top team which included her Poppi where she gained a 1st at Acremead on 16th apr and top of the points board for that day, the teams new dogs got 4th in open (1st time out ) with Paulines Tammi in that team. Well done Pauline and girls.

Rosie and Millie Sawyer enjoyed training with Antony Clarke and Sian Illingworth at UKA shows as part of Agility for Juniors. Both their dogs are gaining confidence in the ring and have managed clear rounds at KC shows this year. They are also attended the Susan Garrett seminar in early May.

Jillian and Dottie have been out as well with Dottie qualified for the UKA finals this year - Knock out and Masters and has also qualified for CSJ semi final.

Ann Boyles has been out with Meg and at the UKA Countrypaws K9 Show at Winstone on 16 April Meg came first in the Steeplechase and gained enough points to move from Beginners to Novice.   Ann would like to remind any Corton Club members to pass their points to her so that they can be included in Dog of the Year.

Pat Draper and Bran won agility at Wye valley in April moving him up to G4 and with her dog Taff won agility at WBSDS also in April moving him up to G6, well done Pat.

I have no doubt that with all the shows being attended next month will hold just as much good news. Come back soon and see how we all do.

Until next month. Bye for now. C.A.T.S.

March

Well the excitement of Crufts is over and we have some news to share. One of our Junior members Rosie Sawyer did us proud by completing in the Young Kennel Club Agility Dog of the Year Semi Finals in the under 12 year old class. She and her dog Kes did really well and although they were not placed we could not have been more proud of her performance. She had a team of supporters there on the day to cheer her on and we have added some images to the gallery for you to see and to the front page.

Also our very own Laura Chudleigh and her boy Rodney qualified for the finals in her class and although she was unplaced in the end she did us all proud by representing our club so well.

Our Clubs AGM will be held on Thursday March 31st at 7.30 at the Trotthorse Pub in Wootton Bassett. All fully paid up members are welcome to attend.

On recent show results news, at N.A.D.S on 26th March Jillian Sawyer and her dog Dottie gained a 3rd overall in Masters and a 2nd in Champ Jumping, followed by her daughters Rosie and Millie with their dogs Honey and Dinky gained clear rounds in their steeplechase classes. At the same show Joy Stanbrook won a steeplechase class with her dog Bex. Well done guys.

February

Well we are now only 1 month away from Crufts, and we have two of our members qualified to run dogs in various events. Rosie and Kes are practicing like mad to prepare for their appearance in the Juniors and we wish them the best of luck.

Also our very own Laura Chudleigh, who recently won Olympia with her boy Rodney, qualified for Cruft singles and are running for GB in the International at Crufts too, so many, many congratulations to them for their success. In April they also qualified for the European Open team try-outs. We wish Laura the very best of luck at Crufts. We have some lovely photo of Laura at Olympia now in our gallery.
